REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
ILLINOIS SOLAR INCENTIVES

Do it for the earth
Solar energy serves as an effective and practical solution to the environmental challenges posed by fossil fuel-based energy sources, which generate harmful waste products. This clean energy alternative harnesses the abundant power of the sun, making it a renewable resource that can be replenished naturally. Furthermore, the affordability of solar technology has made it increasingly accessible, allowing individuals and communities to embrace a more sustainable and eco-friendly way to meet their energy needs. By transitioning to solar energy, we can significantly reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier planet.

DO IT FOR YOURSELF
The Illinois Shines adjustable block solar grant program provides financial incentives when you choose to go solar, offering a significant cash grant based on the size of your system. When combined with the updated Federal Solar Tax Credit, you can reduce your solar installation costs by up to 65% on an average-sized 6kW solar system!
Funds are disbursed upfront, leveraging the projected solar renewable energy certificates (SRECs) your system will generate over a 15-year period. We will handle the grant application on your behalf, which effectively lowers the overall cost of your solar installation, as installers typically deduct the Illinois Shines grant amount from your quoted price.
If you reside in the Chicagoland area or other regions served by ComEd or Ameren, you can anticipate receiving $65 for each SREC your solar system generates. An average 6kW home solar system is expected to produce around 120 SRECs over 15 years, translating to a potential grant amount of nearly $8,000.

DO IT FOR YOUR FUTURE
If you’re a homeowner who wants to go solar, now is a great time to take advantage of government incentives like the federal solar tax credit. The federal residential solar tax credit is the most valuable incentive you can claim this year because it saves you thousands of dollars in the form of a 30% tax credit that will remain at 30% until 2033, when it’s scheduled to drop down to 26%.. There’s no limit to the amount you can claim.
Investing in solar energy not only helps you save on your taxes but also provides long-term benefits. By reducing your reliance on traditional energy sources, you can lower your monthly electricity bills, protecting yourself from fluctuating energy prices. Over time, these savings can add up significantly, allowing you to recoup your initial investment and increase the value of your home.
“It is a great time to go solar. “The monthly savings Smart Solar Billing will continue to provide — in addition to significant rebates from the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act and tax breaks from the Federal Inflation Reduction Act — greatly lower the barrier to entry for individuals to invest in solar power and storage. This is an exciting time to join the clean energy economy and be a part of helping the environment.”
